If you love cosiness, autumn colors and the smell of warm cinnamon you definitely have to try this recipe. It's made for you (:
The kitchen will smell like a warm hug and you wanna make a hot tea and enjoy the warm cinnamon rolls right out of the oven.
The yeast dough makes them fluffy and light, while the buttery cinnamon filling brings the moistness. The combination of butter and cinnamon is just heavenly. It melts and creates also a thin layer of caramel on the bottom.
In Sweden they have a lovely tradition called "Fika"
Fika is about taking a break to enjoy coffee, tea, or another beverage, often with pastries like freshly baked cinnamon buns (kanelbullar).
It's more than just a coffee break - it's a social ritual, an opportunity to slow down, connect with others, and savor the moment.
Fika can happen at any time of day, whether in a cafe, home, or with friends, and is an integral part of Swedish culture, for relaxation and meaningful conversation.
So let's sit down, get a hot cacao and a cinnamon bun and celebrate Fika (:
INGREDIENTS:
280 ml Sojamilch
60 g vegan Butter
50 g Sugar
500 g Flour (I used wheatflhour)
2 tsp Dried yeast
1 tsp Salt
FILLING:
130 g Brown Sugar
100 g vegan Butter
1 tbsp Cinnamon
COATING:
1 tbsp Soyamilk
1 tsp Marple Sirup
PREPARATION:
1. Warm up Milk, sugar and the butter until everything is melted. It should be just warm not hot or boiling!
2. Combine Flour, Salt and the dried yeast in a large bowl and mix it.
After that you pour the warm Milk with butter together with the flour and knead it until it's a nice and solid dough (:
3. Cover the dough with a clean and wet towel and let it rest for 2h in a warm room (I know its long but it's worth it (: )
4. Make the filling ready (:
The Butter should have room temperature, now combine it with sugar and cinnamon until you have a nice paste.
5. Roll out the dough with some flour on the table. The dough should be a square ( 40x50cm)
6. Spread the filling over 2/3 of the dough. Place the third of the dough without filling in the center, then place the other third of the dough also in the center. Cut into 12 equal pieces.
7. Twist each piece and roll it around your fingers and form a knot with it. This takes little bit of practice, be patients with yourself ;)
8. Heat the oven to 180 Degrees air circulation.
9. Put the coating on the cinnamonrolls and bake them for around 15-20 min until they are brown golden (:
10. Serve the warm cinnamonrolls with cafe or hot tea and enjoy your Fika (:
